12 of 12 May 2009

I first saw this on Brian's blog and then went to Untitled Chad Darnell Project who started 12 of 12 .    I was not sure I would be able to participate in 12 of 12 this month.  Last month my Internet connection was so sporadic  I could barely check email.  However, the folks at Comcast say it should be fine now but we'll see.  So, here is April 2009's 12 of 12...

On my way to school this morning I stopped at an intersection and there was planted on the corner.

I don't remember what this ground cover plant is called.  It was dormant all winter but now that summer/wet season is here it is going crazy.  The flowers close up at night so when I leave the house it is just all green with buds, but this is what it looks like when I get home from school.

The plants in the garden are growing like crazy.  We've already picked cucumbers and peas.  I made a cucumber salad last Friday.  We should get lots of veggies and fruit by July then it will go dormant until September/October when it cools down a bit.

I think the tassels on the corn are so cool!

The grapefruit is flowering.  It's not a great shot and I wish I could transmit the smell over the Internet.  The smell from citrus blossoms is light, sweet, and just magical.  And all these little buds will be grapefruit in January of next year.  The oranges should bloom next month when the rains increase.

This is me in my scrubs, which we have to wear to school each day.

Today we had an outside organization teach for 4 hours about HIV and AIDS.  It is a program required by the State of Florida for all students going into any type of health care field.  You must take the class prior to graduation and this is the point where my school inserted it into our schedule.  We spent a lot of time talking about the proper use of male condoms since most HIV is passed sexually.  They gave us this assortment of condoms and demonstrated what the proper way to put a condom on an average sized dildo.  Sincerely, I must say, man on man, woman on man, woman on woman... it does not matter make sure you use a condom and it is also recommended that even husbands and wives go get tested on a yearly basis

Yuli has been so cute and wanting to be close to her daddy these days, more so than normal.  Chase said the other days I was out doing stuff after school and then working and did not come home until 10 PM.  He said that for hours she just looking at the door waiting for me to walk through.  She's such a sweet and good dog!

Sassy wants to be around me too.  My girls are so cute and loving in their own way.

As the sun was setting my 4 special LED lites came on.  I put 2 of them under a pair of palm tree candle stick holders Skot gave me for Christmas 2 years ago.  I think it makes them look even more cool as ambient light.

I sat down to study for 3 - 4 hours because we have a midterm at the end of the week.  As you can see it is really exciting stuff.

In the background I had Real Time with Bill Maher playing on the TV.  When something funny would be said I got to take a 2 - 3 minute break to listen and laugh.  That was my day...not too exciting...just another day in the live of a mostly unemployed IT professional, taking medical classes, just hoping to make it though all this crap and come out better than when it started.
