Florida Anti-Gay Marriage Amendment

Florida will have an issue on the ballot in November which is to vote for or against adding an amendment to the Florida State Constitution to ban gay marriage.  The local paper, the Naples Daily News, ran a story on their FRONT page about a local Baptist church that held a rally in support of the amendment.

The main speaker at the event  senior church Pastor Hayes Wicker who said “This is a tremendous social crisis, greater even than the issue of slavery.”  Without such an amendment or a law, Wicker said, it could lead to legal marriages in Florida between “man and dog” and “father and child.”

OK.  So now the news paper in the town in which I live has run a front page story with words equating gay couples getting married to a bigger issue than slavery, being involved in bestiality, and incestuous marriages?

Give me a freaking break!   I am outraged by the stupidity and narrow mindedness of these folks.  I'm not sure what I'm doing about this yet but I can't keep quit about this.  I know I will be writing a latter to the editor and I'm going to have to find someway to protest both the paper for printing such inflammatory and hateful words and the church.  You can find the store here.
