So after tons of tests (blood tests, barium x-rays, esophagogastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy and more) I finally know what is wrong with my stomach.  I had a positive test for a disease called celiac.  So I had another more detailed test for celiac and it too came back positive.  The only way to treat this disease is by changing your diet to exclude gluten.  People with celiac have an allergy to gluten which aggravates the intestines and causes problems like the ones I’ve been having plus it can cause other problems.

So I now have to eliminate all wheat, oats, rye, and barley from my diet.  So this is not going to be easy since I love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, spaghetti, and pizza.  There are gluten free pastas and breads and I’ve been doing a lot of research on what has gluten and what doesn’t.  I have to take it very seriously as it can lead to lymphoma or cancer of the small intestines.

The good news is that by going gluten free in my diet I can manage the disease and not have to worry about it causing further problems.  Even better news for Dan the Martini man is that Skyy vodka is gluten free.  Thank goodness, I can be healthy and still have a martini now and then.
