Child Kicked Off Plane

There has been a lot on the TV news about the child and their parents that were kicked off a flight because the child would not stop throwing a temper tantrum long enough to even be buckled into her seat.  It happened here in our local airport so there has been a lot of coverage on local news.

I agree with the airline and based on the local news poll I'm not alone (89% say the kid should have been removed).  The parents at first were acting like this was such a big deal against them.  I know even when a good child gets on a plan anywhere near where I'm sitting I cringe because you never know when they will start crying or acting out.

The bigger problem here is that many parents today have no control over their children.  They are raising a generation of spoiled, mouthy, unruly, brats.   This never would have been an issue when I was a kid because we were taught to respect our parents, respect other people, and respect our selfs.  There were consequences for actions such as what this bratty child with irresponsible parents did.

We knew there would be a price to pay and you learned this the first time you tried to pull this crap in a store or something.  There was no counting or trying to talk us into stopping the bad behavior.  Yes sometimes we got spanked and it was not abuse or a bad thing.  But say we were in store and we were bad, we would leave.  My mom would pack us up in the car.  There would be no treats, no TV, no fun, no games.  Her actions were immediate.  There were no negotiations.  She was the parent and we were the children.  Guess what, we learned to behave when out in public etc.

Kids will be kids.  We were all kids once.  But we were taught boundaries and respect which seems to be missing from many parents these days.

I know this sounds harsh but it you aren't prepared to be a good parent then don't have kids.  I for one don't want to deal with your bratty children on planes or in stores, parks, restaurants, etc.
