I am Lucky
This is the time of year when it's tough to talk to family and friends up north because the weather always comes up. When I talk to my Mom and Dad it always goes something like this:
Me: So what's it like up there right now?
Parents: It's cold. It's 20 degrees. It's going to be cold all week.
Me: I remember what it's like but I tell you guys to move down here all the time. It's cool down here too. It's only going to be in 70's tomorrow and a couple of nights maybe in the 50's. I may have to close the windows on those nights.
Parents: Should we give away your skis? You never really use them anymore. They just sit in the basement taking up space.
Me: No, you never know when I'll want to pop home and ski again. Oh, when are you guys coming to visit, I just picked some oranges from the back yard to make juice. It tastes so good. I'm glad I bought that electric juicer.
I am always inviting my friends and family to come visit me. I have this 3 bedroom house and it's just me (and Sassy and Yuli of course). Everyone always come in the summer, like June when it's freaking hot. They never come in the winter when it's cold up there. Except once when my friend Bill came down. We went to Disney World. I have photos—Bill is in shorts and polo shirts and we are wearing jeans, sweatshirts, and jackets.
