What A Difference A Day Can Make

I am very happy about the changes that are about to take place thanks to yesterday's election.  I am an independent.   I voted mostly Democrat but for a couple of local Republicans.  I always try to vote for an individual rather than a party.  I think about all the money that spent on this election.  I heard on NPR that it was $1.2 billion.  Think about how many homeless people or sick people that could help.  I can't believe they spent that much money.  I think it is really a sorry reflection that we can spend so much on something like advertising for elections, but that is another story.

I think that the majority has spoken and the message is clear — President Bush and his policies or invasion, torture, and the suspension of our rights must end.  I look forward to the changes about to come and can now actually look forward to the future.

Voting for the person and not the party is the way I like to vote as well -- but not this year. I live in DC and so was not allowed to vote for a voting member of Congress (despite the fact that I pay federal taxes, but that's a whole 'nother discussion), but was encouraging all of my friends to vote straight Democrat. Even if they liked their Republican Senators and Representatives or their particular Republicans were moderates, it was important this time to get Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress. I'm so glad that's what happened ...
