The War on Terror from Within
Our government and in particular our President says we are fighting a war on terror. Are we? Where would that be? Who are we fighting? Would we be afraid if the government was not constantly telling us that we should be afraid?
I think these are honest and real questions. I would say that Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden should be who we are fighting against. So why we wasted resources invading Iraq is beyond me. Now that we are there we are stuck for a while. However, that does not negate the fact that we never should have gone there. This was nothing more that the pet project of the ignorant buffoon we call Mr. President.
Do I feel afraid day to day that something terrible is going to happen due to terrorist attacks? No.
Is it always on there in the back of my head? Yes.
Why? Because the government using the press puts out a daily message that we should be afraid and that only the Republican Party and President Bush can save us from the evil that will stop at nothing to destroy us. So really it is our own government that (by definition of creating a feeling for fear or terror) that is acting more like terrorists.
It's time for America to move on. Move on beyond living in fear. Move on from being oppressed by President Bush and the people that think for him. Move on to be what we are supposed to be, the land of the free and the home of the brave.
